Birmingham, Alabama by Coughing Birmingham, Alabama by Coughing
I made this while I was not at home.
It is 3.50x4.75 inches.
The only media use is my rotring rapidoliner .5 nib pen, and a brown colored pencil.
Otherwise, scotch tape and elmers glue are the main ingredients.
Full view?
Go right ahead.
I think I put two to three hours into this.

Edit....
Here's a picture to give you a sense of how small this is... [link]

I really like this, I don't know what I can say that's constructive, but I just love the transition that it forces your eye to go through from one side of the piece to the other..in such a flat piece, there's such a feeling of depth!

That's plenty of construction, you used art words!

This is rad, Tad. I thoroughly enjoy how you pick up scraps from the ground. Today, I found disguarded photographs that hadn't quite turned out, it was cool.

In closing, your art collage makes me want to go to art college.

Yeah, I'm oft found with my head in those huge, green metal mothers. If questioned, I find myself completely except upon replying, "Oh, I go to art school."

I have not had the pleasure.

(For some reason, this comment never showed up in my inbox, and I just now found it..)

I found a photograph in the street once that had been run over, weathered, etc.
Painted on it and had a grand old time, really liked how it turned out ( [link] ).
And goddamn, talk about a hefty compliment, not to mention lovely word choice and sentence structure in that last line..

mmmmm...nice tag. i mean nice collage.
it's cool that you could make this away from home.
maybe that sounds odd, but i've tried to make things away from my space and it just doesn't work out. but i still like the idea of it because of the limitations presented. i think you met the challenge [if it was one] quite well.

Thanks Fred. It was a little odd, but it didn't take long to settle down. I brought quite a bit of stuff with me... acrylic paints, my cheap watercolor set, a full alphabet stencil sheet, 15in. ruler, a big bottle of elmers glue, assorted writing instruments and an x-acto, various bits of things, and also matboard to work on.
Plus I had my music with me, it was like one in the morning, and no one was around to bother me and my big empty table space.

i must say that was a good bargain for some xmas mugs. and what an interesting way to tell a story about your trip to birmingham- im assuming these objects were found during that trip. (i know it isnt polite to assume).

I wish they were things from Birmingham. I titled it such because it was made while I was there, but we never just walked around the place (a.k.a. giving me the opportunity to find things). It's all stuff I brought from Dallas.
